One of my good friends is an excellent baker and cook, (check out her blog here) and she kindly agreed to show me her magical ways and teach me how to make truffles this past holiday season. I was shocked at how easy the process was, and how fun it could be to make and eat different kinds of chocolatey treats. For an upcoming event, I made two dozen of these babies in less than 30 minutes. It is so easy and quick, anyone could do it!
1 package of Oreos (I use the normal kind, but mint or double stuffed would probably be delicious!)
1 package cream cheese
1 package vanilla almond bark
Equipment: melon baller and food processor
Put Oreos in a big plastic bag and crush to make it easier for them to be ground up in food processor. Cut up block of cream cheese into smaller chunks and mix in food processor with Oreos, mix until smooth. Save a small amount of crushed oreo crumbs in bag for garnish on truffles once they are dipped.
Heat the almond bark in a saucepan over very low heat – be sure to watch it as it burns very easily. Use melon baller to form balls of the Oreo/cream cheese dough and roll until round. Drop in the melted almond bark and carefully roll around to cover in almond bark. Scoop out and place on waxed paper, sprinkle crumbs on top and allow to harden.
Putting them in little mini cupcake wrappers makes for a nice gift, or a treat for yourself! Enjoy 🙂
